The Foreign Minister, Marina Yanaka, has expressed her concern over the recent movement of a number of Boli refugees from neighbouring Uttania to the Centrální Republika. While the government says it was informed of the movement of nearly 3,000 people, the Foreign Minister said refugees should be settled more permanently rather than moved around the continent.
Polasciana was not directly involved in the shift of location, but the government has so far also rejected the idea of an ‘open’ border which would bring it into line with other states, taking refugees from what are described as ‘volatile’ states, such as Boliatur.
“The very notion that we should be lifting people from their homes is one that this government rejects – we support aid and peace-workers in their missions across Gallia, and beyond, keeping citizens of all sides safe, but that can be done without open borders” said Yanaka in a recent press conference. “Our preference and priority is that nationstates receive support to become safer, so that we don’t have to move people across the world.”
Uttania and the Central Republic have so far housed around 25,000 refugees from Boliatur in a deal signed with Belmonté.
