Power4, the public company responsible for the national power network could face privatisation following the outcome of the presidential election. The Centrists, along with the United Nationalists have submitted manifesto proposals to their respective party conferences detailing plans to allow nationwide competition for the supply of electricity. Gas and oil will not face similar action it has been added. But both parties plans will come under increase scrutiny, as poll-leaders the Union Party are expected to fight against the plans strongly in the election. Gennadiy Artamova, the Union Party leader, today said the plans were “reckless” and “threatened future economic growth” within the Polascianan economy. But government leaders, including the Prime Minister, have said the supply was “outdated” and needed “severe modernisation.”
