The Prime Minister has come under attack by the opposition Union Party in the lower house for an expected reversal of a pledge on tax changes. During his election campaign in 2008, Koruin Gruaman pledged that his party would freeze both the current Added and Home tax rates. The tax thresholds, firstly for federal and the latter for local provision, had been increased under the former unionist government in 2007. But Mr Gruaman came under fire from his predecessor, Maksim Obelschenko, as he appeared to highlight a reversal of his pledge. A spokesperson for the Centrists tonight said the Tax Bill was yet to be presented to the lower house.
