ITO alliance steps up air campaign against Solarian regime focusing on Ramsel strikes

A fighter jet belonging to the Free States Union is seen over Sola-la-Bruyère in Lierland heading towards Ramsel having taken off from Emmeloord Air Force Base in southern Blois.

Interlaken Treaty Organisation forces based out of Emmeloord Air Force Base in southern Blois have increased the ferocity of their attacks on the Solarian regime in northern Lierland.

Fighter jets belonging to the Free States have been striking key targets since Saturday – when a major military campaign designed to end the conflict in the region began. Previous efforts to depose the regime have been led by Eiffelland and Belmonté, but have now been joined by a major increase in military presence by both the Free States and international coalition forces.

ITO commander Jensen Hendentenberg, who is leading the campaign, has said that the conflict is now entering the “beginning of the end” – with the alliance hoping to ‘liberate’ Ramsel within the next few days. A naval force is also being deployed to the region as part of the plan, with ground forces joining by the end of the month.

Polasciana has committed several naval vessels to join the force – with the Prime Minister expected to make a major national address on Tuesday night. A source told The Union that “the decision to enter the conflict, rather than just support ITO forces with its infrastructure” marked ‘a turning point’ for the Federal Republic – having been invited to a conference at the end of 2020 to develop the military plan. “Polasciana’s support for the international coalition has been well received by leaders in both Interlaken and Threveburg, and is seen as an important ally in building a safe and secure post-conflict Lierland. The government’s knowledge and experience based on the Union Agreement and post-conflict development is seen as critical to the rebuilding campaign that will begin over the next few months and years.” The government however has been coy about its potential role, saying that the country would “play its part” – and with tensions brewing about the scale of Polasciana’s involvement.

Coalition ground forces are also beginning to prepare in Sereniérre – with a build up of troops continuing. A further update from ITO is due on Wednesday when the naval force is expected to stand-down the restriction zone that has been present in the region for a number of years, with a major minesweeping operation expected to begin.
