Serbin joins Interlaken conference as alliance lays out plans to end Lier conflict

Prime Minister Krill Serbin was met by Pieter-Jan Vandewalle, the Deputy Chief of ITO at the conference centre in Interlaken after flying out to join the event earlier this afternoon

The Prime Minister flew out this afternoon to join a conference of the ITO military alliance as a guest of top commander Jensen Hendentenberg.

Seen as an important ally due to its strategic position in the Long Sea, and a partner in the escalating war against the Solarian regime in Western Gallia, Polasciana is attending an ITO alliance conference for the first time since 2009 when former president, then prime minister, Koruin Gruaman attended a meeting held in the Free States Union.

Flying out to Interlaken this afternoon, the Prime Minister said he was “glad to have the opportunity to put forward Polasciana’s views on the ongoing Lier crisis” – and that the country would do “whatever it could” to help and support the ending of the war. The conference has been called to finalise arrangements for what has been described as “decisive action” after 13 years of the conflict.

Prior to today’s invitation however, the Foreign Minister, Yulia Schevchenko, had said the country was not in a position to support some elements of the ITO plan – including the resettlement of up to as many as two million refugees across the continent which could be created by the alliance’s plans of an air, sea and land invasion over the coming weeks. Schevchenko, who also serves as First Deputy Prime Minister, in an interview claimed that the country was “committed to supporting ITO with military assistance” but that Polasciana did not “have the resources to support with resettlement and rebuilding”. The former Education Minister commented that “The simple fact is this country is not the richest, we have our own issues and securing our borders remains important. We will support any action where we can – but we are not here to prop up other countries around us.”

President Tattar has said he and the Unionist Party is willing to back the government should it seek to support ITO’s escalatory action – saying he viewed an end of the conflict as ‘essential’ and ‘overdue’. The Niveri Palace has however not yet commented any further on specifics – but suggestions in Karasicena tonight are thought to include that both parties could present emergency legislation to enable it to fund additional military activities – including contributing to the naval campaign. Any deal between Polasciana and the alliance however is expected to be a small part of the ITO force being assembled – with details thought to emerge at pace over the next few days as the conference draws to a close ahead of the New Year break.

All Interlaken members are attending alongside invited representatives from Talemantros, Sereniérre and Polasciana.
