Polascianan law enforcement undertook a joint operation last night with Eiffelland police on the border in Kresnovic and confiscated goods worth up to 35 million Gallions – the largest raid ever seized on the Gallian peninsular. Fifty five people were also arrested in what has been described as a major operation. Justice, Prisons and Crime Minister Yulia Warner described the action as ‘historic’ and said that it proved the government’s commitment towards ‘taking firm action on crime and making Polasciana a safer country’. The operation has been seized on by the government during its difficult presidential election campaign as evidence that it is providing ‘solutions’ to the issue of crime and has used it to hit back against criticisms from the Nationalist Party which has been presenting itself as ‘tough on crime’. Kresnovic’s Governor Adan Kreutzburg thanked local and national forces for their ‘incredible job’ during the operation which lasted for over six hours last night. Some thirty people are expected to be charged on conspiracy to break federal laws – with another fifteen expected to be deported to Eiffelland by the end of the week.
