Extremist environmental campaigners in Uttania have violently attacked the Polascianan embassy in Uttica for a second time. Demonstrating against President Artamova’s controversial new energy policy, the protesters have claimed that the expansion into coal energy will adversely affect their living standards in the country and the surrounding region. The Minister for Energy, Natural Resources and Environmental Protection, Ada Mantel said that protesters were ‘doing incredible damage to the reputation of Uttanian citizens.’ The re-opening of five coal mines in Amar and Buratiyan, near the border in the north of the country, will be the first in a phase of a rapid expansion in coal energy. Ms Mantel said the government was ‘not worried’ by the removal of emissions targets, but that it would seek to ‘offset’ pollution from the new coal plants, by investing in ‘clean coal technology’ over the next 15 years.
