First HD Broadcasts Due for Transmission

State broadcaster PTV is due to offer the first full commercial High Definition service for customers from tomorrow. Having trialled in several large cities in Kamchetka since the beginning of the year – PTV said the broadcasts were now ready for commercial release across the entire country. Although consumers have been asked to check whether they can receive the full service in their part of the country – the broadcasting giant confirmed there would be several ‘black-spots’, where transmission would not be possible till summer. The project leader Adnan Rebikov said the new services would bring great commercial revenues for the broadcaster – he said 100% of the revenue would be re-invested in the upkeep of transmission or in programme development.
