Milése artist Toulou, who was crowned the winner of the Global Music Festival this weekend in Bahía Blanca, will release a raft of new singles and albums on an international label.
The multi-million Gallion deal will see the singer become the first winner of the competition to sign a global contract. His winning entry from last week’s show, ‘Blue Skies‘, has already gone to the top of the charts in countries around the world, and Milàt is discussing the potential for the singer to represent them again next year in Tours, Montelimar following the huge success of the single.
Milàt won the show in a landslide – securing one of the biggest victories since it was relaunched in 2011. Their fifth entry, it was a heavy favourite heading into the contest, but the story of the week was the failure of the United Republic, the frontrunner, to make it into Saturday’s super final. In the end it was the Free States Union with their entry Traitors and Montelimar’s Mi Amor that faced off against the winners. Polasciana’s entry secured eighth place – the country’s best result for over a decade, which has given a substantial bounce to PTV. Ostry, the United Republic, Bermond, the Royal Livinian Kingdom, South Savannah and hosts Republica del Sur rounded out the top 10.
Becoming an international star overnight has made Toulou and his rise one of the most popular singers on the planet. The islander, who has already had a string of hits in his native Milàt, has been tight lipped about his own future, but speculation is rising as to the steps he could take next. Signing the international deal is thought to be the first in a series of offers the singer has received since his win on Saturday. Whilst details are limited, it is known that the Milése broadcaster places certain pre-conditions on its competition entries – and so is almost certainly likely to benefit from the success.
GlobeFest moves to Montelimar next year, with the country having won the right to host the show last year in a bidding process which saw it beat off competition from Salaam, Jurzan’s port city which hosted the 2017 World Games. The host of the 2022 show will be announced next year, but it is not thought that Lambaesa, the Milése capital will be in the running. Salaam remains the favourite.
