Kozar port set for major transformation with investment and redevelopment fund

Kozar Port in the Isisny Islands was once a major shipping hub but has lacked investment for over 20 years. A newly announced transformation fund is expected to bring significant new development which will create a modern new shipping centre – one of the biggest in the Long Sea

The government has announced that it has come to an agreement with President-elect Ivan Tattar to launch a major transformation project at Kozar Port. The area, once one of the region’s biggest shipping centres, will be revitalised as part of a 400 million Kryak fund which will see a new international ferry port open, as well as major development of the existing shipping hub. It will be one of the largest civilian projects of its kind undertaken when construction begins in the spring.

Kozar is one of the historic ports hosted on the Isisny Islands and the development comes after significant lobbying by the state’s Chief Council-woman Anna Rico. President-elect Tattar had included a commitment to creating new international shipping routes as part of his election pitch – but had refused to be drawn as to where these would be based, with some suggesting that senior officials as part of his transition team preferred growing the Port of Phyillistina in Béspura – particularly since the party recently took control of the state under Unionist governor Akim Veselov. Announcing the Kozar development earlier today Finance Minister Arnold Lippman and Travel and Tourism Minister Illya Ellanovic said that the project would benefit the ‘whole of the country’.

“This development will spearhead economic growth across the whole of the country – benefiting communities across every state as shipping becomes easier and more technologically advanced in our country,” said Mr Lippman who has been under significant pressure to give further details of the government’s growth agenda as the nation prepares to join the Gallian and Centrican League in January – a move likely to see the economy breach its debt cap for the first time. “Membership of the League is a huge boost to the Polascianan economy and jobs across the whole of the country. Transforming infrastructure like Kozar Port will mean we are better able to take advantage of the opportunities this presents us” added Ms Ellanovic, who represents the district of Rogan in Amar.

With the government under political pressure, and Mr Tattar due to be inaugurated in January, the Kozar development is thought to be the first of several major schemes due to be announced in the coming weeks – with further investment expected in travel, energy and frontline public services.
