A new independent inquest into the Government’s handling of the Dubrovka rail incident has opened to explosive accusations in a leading tabloid newspaper. ‘Shchodnya Istori숒 reported this morning that Ms Rudakov, the Government minister responsible for transport had been involved in an intimate relationship with the boss of the country’s biggest rail manufacturer – Burov. Refusing to comment on the allegations, Boris Svikorivo, the Chief Executive of the manufacturer was questioned by the inquest today and said that he believed “that the relationship between [Burov] and the Government [could] be described as anything other than professional, straight and in the public interest.” Refuting allegations that the privatised rail company had been given a 1bnkR maintenance deal because of a personal relationship with Ms Rudakov, the Chief Executive said that the inquest would prove Burov’s role in the matter as one of ‘respect and dignity’ for the people who lost their lives.
