Lukyanov Announces October Presidential Election

A representative of President Lukyanov has announced in the Federal Council that the 2011 Presidential Election will be held, as suspected, on Sunday 23rd October.

For the first time, a run-off between the two top placing candidates will be held two weeks later on November 6th and Mr Lukyanov selected the dates in conjunction with the government, all of which has been constitutionally presented with the required two month window.

The former Polascianan Unitarian Party leader and until recently Union Party member, also announced through his spokesperson that as expected he would not be seeking reelection.

The Union Party and the Centrists are now expected to finalise their candidature selection process over the next few weeks and will join United Nationalist Democrat Tymur Rubin in the race to be the country’s third president.
