The wreckage of the train from last Wednesday’s devastating crash at Dubrovka is to moved over the weekend to allow investigation teams onto the site. The fatal crash, which saw hundreds of passengers injured and many thrown through windows, is under investigation by a joint commission set up by the government. The opposition has called for ‘clarity’ over the situation after rumours spread across the internet suggested that the crash could be linked to terrorism. While the arrival of a new Minister for Transport will not help ease the situation, the international community is likely to be calmed by the news that the investigation will be thorough and detailed and seek to explain ‘insecurities’ within the Polascianan transport infrastructure. The state rail operator ‘Momentum’ said it would continue to suspend services on the ‘Delta’ passenger route where the crash happened, but said it was making ‘alternative arrangements’ for passengers who need to commute on the line.
