Milutinovic remains in critical condition, Nationalists lobby against Energy Act, ITO teases further strikes

‘World class’ Wiese medics treating Nado Milutinovic

A medical team from Wiesereich are continuing to treat former Eastern Republic President Nado Milutinovic who remains in a coma after suffering a suspected stroke. Milutinovic, who was admitted to an emergency department in Amar on Saturday, was considered ‘too ill’ to be moved to the Wiese capital for treatment, with medics making the short journey to Isker instead. There have also been several reports that his family had prevented any transfer, fearing that his condition could worsen and that he may not return to Polasciana alive. A spokesperson for the family this morning said that ‘world class’ medical advice was being taken, but confirmed that Milutinovic has not been conscious since falling ill at the weekend. A further update on his condition is expected by Thursday morning, with statements of well wishes and support continuing to come from all corners of the country.

Energy Independence Act at risk as Nationalists pull support

The Energy Independence Act, negotiated by President Tattar and Prime Minister Serbin at the end of July, is facing a backlash in the Federal Executive after Nationalist Party deputies and their leader Alexei Sukhorukov said they would oppose the bill. The legislation, which seeks to act on a commitment by both major parties to reach energy independence by 2023, was described as ‘timid’ by Mr Sukhorukov who said it risked creating ‘a blank cheque’ for renewable energy companies. Making provision for a major increase in wind, solar and hydro energy, the Nationalists say the act risks “taking jobs away from lower paid workers” and “will sign up Polasciana to backroom deals it cannot get out of”. With both the President and Prime Minister leading majorities in their respective houses, the act could still pass as planned by the end of the week, but without Nationalist support, it risks alienating colleagues.

Interlaken chiefs target November in Lier conflict

The Interlaken alliance’s Chief Commander, Jensen Hendentenberg, has said that the organisation, made up of the world’s largest militaries, will commit to a further round of airstrikes against the Elementist regime in northern Lierland. Seeking to ‘end the stalemate’ by November, ITO forces will deploy bruising capability on the heart of the Solarian occupation in Torrence. Almost a year to the day since airstrikes resumed for the first time since 2018, the alliance hopes that a further set of attacks will help land a major breakthrough in the conflict. Eiffelland and Belmish forces killed almost 560 civilians in attacks launched in January. A return to active duty in the region will mark 13 years since Torrence attacked Lorraine, sparking the ongoing conflict.
