A leading Centrist party figure Alexei Sukhorukov has issued a public warning to the Prime Minister, that he is considering defection to the Sar nationalist party, Party of Unity. Speaking in an interview on PTV earlier today, Mr Sukhorukov, who resigned as Deputy Prime Minister in May 2011, said that he had reached the ‘final straw’ with the Progressive Centrist leadership, which he said had ‘failed to find a voice for Sar nationals.’ Sukhorukov’s defection to the party would be a major blow to Ludvig Fedorov’s leadership of the coalition – in which he had attempted to balance prominent Sar voices in government, with Ministers from all of Polasciana’s three dominant ethnic groups. Despite his resignation under Fedorov’s predecessor, he was a vocal campaigner in the 2011 presidential election, and was a prominent voice of the grassroots of the party. Mr Fedorov however this evening said he felt Mr Sukhorukov should air his views ‘in private’.
