Across the country, in 50 regions, polls are due to close in just under an hour in the major voting weekend in the race for the presidential nomination of the formal opposition.
The Union Party is selecting between their former leader, Gennadiy Artamova and the Kamchetkan Governor, Stepan Michalvich in a tight race. Today’s vote marks the largest section of the race, where 50 regions voted on the same day.
Mr Artamova won the first vote in Dobryn with 57% of the vote, however Governor Michalvich came back to win, just 2% ahead of his rival, in Mozyr two weeks ago.
Opinion polls claim today’s race is too close to call, but with just a week left in the campaign, the results of today’s vote will be vital in securing the nomination for the election in October.
